Last weekend

Last weekend was a real blessing. It was all about the son of a great friend of mine who will be staying with me in LA while he does his internship for the summer. Along with my friend, who leads Coke, and a few of those from the FG office – interns mostly – we set off to explore LA. The key here was it was certainly a gift to my buddy, but more importantly, it was a gift to me. I have not had so much fun in my own home town in a long time. Weekends for me are usually business, but this weekend gave me the excuse to go to the beach – see War of the Worlds (though I don’t advise you to). The dinner party I threw in the honor of my friend’s son was great and the first inter-generational party I’ve done. About half the guests were in their late teens and early twenties and the rest of us the normal group. My friend Thomas Tull just closed one of the biggest finance deals in the movie industry with Legend Productions. Ted and his wife who directs Leno were a real treat along with Producer (Kill Bill) Lawrence Bender and his girlfriend’s – at first shy – daughter. About 12 of us total.

Church was a treat on Sunday with tons of new folks, but at one point I had to slip out for a radio interview. Good to know the priest who can hook you up with a land line.

I got a wonderful message from Barron Thomas a few weeks ago and the process began to see if we could get together.  It was easy to offer him to join me in something I was already doing, so he suggested Church.  After a few regrettably failed attempts, last Sunday was the day for me to meet Barron.  Click here to read Barron's blog entry about the day.
