One PR firm I won't hire

Just read a great story from the website of my friend David Koretz, CEO of BlueTie, about a PR firm that so very mistakenly told him "the media is not your friend!"

Obviously, David's PR people were wrong and David was right. What better way to increase your own or your organization's chances of getting the media attention you need than to have ongoing, genuine relationships with the very people who call the shots in media.

Could some timely exposure through a far-reaching media channel be good for your personal or organizational brand? Of course. If you don't have those relationships yet, start building them today! Remember: build it before you need it.

Thank you, thank you. This may sound wierd, but I was brainstorming on a pitch I am going to make later this week on the formation of a p.r. company. Your entry was exactly what I needed to read.
