Persistent pinging, an impromptu party, and pictures!

Brian Tannebaum (guy with the mic) is a white-collar criminal defense lawyer in Florida who absolutely lives and breathes the principles in Never Eat Alone. He first contacted my office months ago about getting me down to Miami and he's stayed in touch ever since, pinging Ken, who does book marketing for me. Just over a week ago, Ken heard I was going to have a layover in Miami, so he quickly told Brian, and there I was. In a span of 24 to 48 hours Brian pulled together an event of 70-some people in a local restaurant.

The night was a lot of fun, I made a great group of friends, and I'm looking forward to getting back down to Miami soon. (Right now LA and New York are great places to live, but I think my next purchase might just be in Miami.)

A good friend of mine is one of the top television reporters in Miami. I have great respect for his ability and am always amazed how he gets the "big" story. But I never knew how he felt about me until he left the event and sent me this e-mail:

"Brian: Two of Ferrazzi's main points are that 1) people want to see you succeed and 2) you need to ask for help to make it big. I know you want me to be the best reporter EVER on Miami TV and I know you know that I'd really like your help.

I'm going to really try to grow my network starting this week and learn the fine art of endearing people to me by 1) being more real and 2) exposing my vulnerabilities.

Listening to Keith allowed him to express these feelings about me that I never knew, and have made our relationship as real as it could ever be.
